Unsealed box. Reel has been spooled but never has been used except for casting a few times in the lake behind my house to see how it casts. Very smooth. I bought this reel and a couple of other Ardents thinking they would be perfect for my two younger grandsons. But both boys tried my Shimano Chronarch 50Mgs first and that was the end of that. The Ardents are just too big for the hands of 7- and 9-year-old boys. So, this one has been sitting on my reserves shelves. Time to move it out.
